Time to start training for the Distance Kite race from Kite Beach to Ocean World. This is going to be a fun summer of training, lets ride!
Training and accommodations start at $50 a day per person double occupancy. Reserve your space now.

Training Days

John lives on the Lagoon side of Kite beach, Paddle Board Cove.
He is the premiere Eco-X-Ocean Sports Trainer, particularly Kite boarding, Kite Boating and Paddle Boarding.

John's Training Schedule is broken into sessions:

7am- 10:00am Stand Up Paddle Boarding SUP daily (reserve your spot)

1pm-3pm Intro to Kite (reserve your spot)

3pm to 5pm Water start/Advanced Kite (reserve your spot)

5pm to 7pm Wave Riding/Advanced Kite (reserve your spot)

Master of the Ocean Training Schedule:
Training involves getting up at sunrise and putting the gear away at sunset.
7am-10am daily SUP training. Paddle Board with John daily.
12pm-6pm Wind Sports...kite and windsurf.

"...this is the biggest event of the Winter Surf Season and it marks the "peak" of the Surf Season and the "beginning" of the Wind Seasons" says current SUP Champion John Holzhall.
Q. Who will be the "Next Top Waterman?"
A. Odds on favorite probably has Luciano Gonzolas

Q. Why?
A. He has been training hard and he knows all three sports.

Q. Do you think you can win it?
A. I need an angle and that angle is big waves...I mean massive surf. If we get big surf, I have a good chance.

Q. What is the outlook?
A. I'm calling for a swell to hit Friday night, I hope it's big!

Feb 23rd 2010 - Tuesday, February 23rd to Monday March 1st

The worlds top watermen test their Physical Conditioning, Equipment and Experience against the two most powerful forces on Earth Wind and Waves!

A elite field of watermen compete against one another in the disciplines of SURF - KITE - and Wind Surf. ....the event has an "Overall" winner "Master Of the Ocean" as well as individual winners in each discipline.

A decade ago, Marcus Bohm with a group of elite athletes set up a competition to crown the World's Top Waterman. Conditions dictated as Competitors matched their skills and experience against the forces of nature.

John and Maui Developer, Doyle Betsil, set up the perfect development for Watermen. The Method Lodge sits in the middle of Kite Beach, Dominican Republic. It is here on kite beach that they are developing the Method Lodge.

The Lodge property begins on kite beach and ends on the Kite Beach Lagoon. The beach road separates the Beach from the Lagoon (El Choco National Park.) The mixure of both the Lagoon and Beach make for a special training grounds and kiting environment, there is always something to do!

I guess I'm luckier than most as John is personally teaching me to kitesurf in his Method Lodge School in Kite Beach, Dominican Republic, where he currently resides and teaches. He gave me his book to read and follow and I see why he has the most successful school in the Country. I see the difference between his method and those of the other schools and this is reflected in his book. Thanks John for introducing me to this great sport. His book is the next best thing to having him as your personal instructor but his method is clearly the best out there. Trust me, I see the difference every day.

This is the bible of Kiteboarding! This book along with the DVD will give any level rider the confidence and more importantly, the common sense to enjoy this sport safely. Great job, John!
